Encouraging optimum credit card behaviour

When Co-Operative Financial Services were looking to develop a compelling credit card proposition, and discover the perfect credit customer, they came to Turquoise for the market research. They tasked us with helping them position their offering to encourage optimum credit card behaviour among both existing and potential customers.

Methodology

After an informative discovery session with the bank, we decided upon a qualitative approach consisting of developmental workshops with both customers and competitors. Customers were segmented on the basis of their attitude towards credit cards and debt, and we incorporated our unique profiling tool, System DNA into the research.

Outcome

The research highlighted perceptions of the credit card customers and credit card providers within the marketplace and the impact that the economic climate was having on usage. We were able gain valuable insights for the Co-Op into the management of consumer levels of debt and credit card use.

The customer segmentation and insight gained enabled the Co-Op to affect behaviours around credit card spending and optimise their offering.
