Evaluating demand within executive education

The University of Edinburgh Business School wanted to understand how to scale up Executive Education delivery at the business school and B-CCaS Impact Centre on the subject of climate change transformation and sustainability. They were keen to evaluate the future potential of accelerating the uptake of sustainability practice in organisations and positioning UEBS/B-CCaS as a market leader in the implementation of sustainability strategies, plans and actions.

Methodology

An initial desk research exercise was conducted across key competitor HE Institutions to evaluate the competitive landscape for the provision of similar MSc’s and Open Programmes.

A dual qualitative stage followed, firstly conducting in-depth interviews with UEBS current students, Alumni and Stakeholders and secondly with key external target groups.

The final stage was a quantitative online survey of key target audiences conducted via a panel of employers and Edinburgh Alumni.

Outcome

We were able to provide recommendations on the mode of delivery for the MSc Programme and to provide clarity on competitor programmes, targeting the implementation of sustainability and low carbon/net zero plans. Additionally we were able to provide recommendations of emerging topics for future training.

Ultimately this gave UEBS the tools to help accelerate the uptake of sustainability practice in a wide range of organisations and businesses in the UK and globally. The end goal being to position UEBS/B-CCaS as a market leader in the implementation of sustainability strategies, plans and actions.
